Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. They help create the experiences, memories, smiles and community spirit that define Montserrat Events. This Code of Conduct sets out the standards expected of everyone representing Montserrat Events& Festivals Limited and Montserrat Events CIC whilst volunteering at our events.

Standards

Expected Standards of Behaviour

Be Professional

  • Arrive on time and ready for duty.

  • Sign in and out as required.

  • Wear the appropriate volunteer accreditation and uniform where provided.

  • Present a positive and approachable attitude.

  • Follow instructions from Event Control, Directors, Team Leaders and Supervisors.

Deliver Excellent Customer Service

  • Be friendly, helpful and welcoming.

  • Treat all visitors with courtesy and respect.

  • Take ownership of problems where possible and seek assistance when required.

  • Remember that you are an ambassador for Montserrat Events.

Work as One Team

  • Support fellow volunteers and event staff.

  • Respect different opinions and experiences.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally.

  • Help create a positive team environment.

Act Safely

  • Follow all health and safety procedures.

  • Report hazards, accidents, incidents or near misses immediately.

  • Never undertake duties you have not been authorised or trained to perform.

  • Follow all emergency procedures and instructions.

Respect Others

  • Treat everyone fairly and equally.

  • Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Respect personal boundaries and privacy.

  • Support Montserrat's commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding.

Protect the Reputation of the Organisation

  • Act honestly and with integrity.

  • Do not engage in behaviour that could damage the reputation of Montserrat Events, its partners, sponsors, venues or stakeholders.

  • Maintain confidentiality where required.

  • Use social media responsibly and positively.

Standards Not Accepted

The following behaviour may result in a volunteer being removed from duty and potentially excluded from future events:

  • Aggressive, abusive or threatening behaviour.

  • Bullying, harassment or discrimination.

  • Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances whilst on duty.

  • Theft, dishonesty or misuse of event property.

  • Deliberately ignoring safety procedures.

  • Sharing confidential information without permission.

  • Failure to follow reasonable instructions.

  • Bringing the organisation into disrepute through actions either on-site or online.

Social Media

We encourage volunteers to share their experiences and help promote our events. When posting online:

  • Be positive and respectful.

  • Do not publish confidential information.

  • Do not make statements on behalf of Montserrat Events unless authorised.

  • Direct media enquiries to the Event Management Team.

Volunteer Welfare

Montserrat Events is committed to:

  • Providing a safe and supportive environment.

  • Treating volunteers with dignity and respect.

  • Providing appropriate briefings and training.

  • Reimbursing approved volunteer expenses in accordance with our Volunteer Expenses Policy.

  • Recognising and celebrating volunteer contributions through initiatives such as the Smile Awards.

The Montserrat Standard

Every volunteer should ask themselves:

"Did I help create a smile today?"

Because every conversation, every visitor interaction and every task - no matter how small - contributes to something bigger. That is the Montserrat Standard.
